How to multiply your time?
Let’s check the definition from Rory:
You Multiply your time by giving yourself the emotional permission to spend time on things today that will give you more time tomorrow.
- Can I eliminate this (is it worth doing)? – if the task you will do only once, you should consider elimination of that task. If it;s impossible, think about the next steps: automation, delegation. Less important task should go on the bottom of you to-do-list. Always ask yourself a question: does the task gives us free time tomorrow? If yes, maybe it’s a good idea to do it today. For example: you check your e-mail every time you wake up, and then you go to work. When you are at work you check the e-mail again. You doing the same over and over. Maybe we can check e-mail on certain hours? This is a simple example, but gives you a good view about the problem. If you cannot eliminate the task, ask a different question:
- Can i automate this? If the task you are doing repeated itself over and over – find the best way to do it without your presence. For example: in my work are planning the production of various components. We need to do it every day. Without processes of automation we do the same stuff over and over. This is a completely waste of time. It took me one month to find the best way to remove the problem. After some hours spent on creating software to automate all the processes we now have +4 hour a day at work for different things. It’s funny how one decision changes all the work environment and satisfaction from work.
- Can I delegate this? If you cannot eliminate or automate the task maybe you have other person whom can you delegate this task? If you are at the top of the corporate ladder – delegation is a good way. Maybe someone will help you with the task? Think about it this way.
